An eminently suppable gin cocktail
London is the home of gin, and there’s no better way to drink it than in this elegant cocktail. It’s so-named because the Queen Mother was said to be particularly fond of it.
Use a good quality London dry gin—I like East London Liquor Company’s, which has a slight hint of warmth from the cardamom and cubeb berries used to infuse it.
40ml London dry gin
Juice of ½ lemon
A strip of lemon zest, to serve
Shake the Dubonnet, gin and lemon juice together in a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a strip of lemon zest. Sip regally.
