For one month this autumn, Bankside will come alive as Merge, the annual arts, music and performance festival bursts into action. Featuring international art installations, live music and dramatic performances, Merge takes place in various locations around Bankside including an abandoned air raid shelter, the river walkway and, this year, Borough Market.
Artists turn walls and hoarding into stunning masterpieces all over Bankside and we’ll be joined by London-based artist SheOne. The alter-ego of James Choules, SheOne will use his unique brand of 1980’s New York graffiti-inspired art to transform a wall above Rabot Estate and Wine Pantry on Stoney Street into a multi-coloured celebration of the regeneration of the area.
During Merge, one of Borough Market’s most historic buildings, the former offices of the trustees, will open its doors to the public for the first time to host two nights of non-stop theatrical performances and live spectacle by local artists.
Throughout Merge, there will also be unexpected pop-up events which will be announced via Twitter alongside the already jam-packed bill. Some events will be ticketed and can be booked on the Merge Festival site where you can also find the full line-up of events, artists and performers. Taking place from September 19th – October 21st, this exciting festival has something for everyone!
