On 1st March we’ll have special guest traders setting up shop in our Market Hall to sell some of the best Welsh produce available. We’ll have everything from traditional Welsh cakes and bara brith, to laverbread and farmhouse cheeses. All delicious and all food created or inspired by the country of Wales.
On St David’s Day (1st March) we will be joined by Welsh cookery school teacher, broadcaster and mother of five, Lisa Fearn who will be taking the helm of the demo kitchen from 12 -1.30pm.
Using seasonal ingredients from the Market and produce from some of our Welsh guest traders, Lisa will be preparing some delicious recipes which you can create at home (at times with a little help from school children at London Welsh School!).
Lisa’s menu will include:
- Cockle & bacon chowder
- Sourdough loaf
- Double Welsh rarebit with laverbread
- Welsh cakes
- Welsh cake crumble with rhubarb compote
After Lisa’s demo at 1.30pm the Welsh male choir, Eschoir, will be singing their hearts out and performing some well-known classics. Feel free to sing along and help us celebrate Dewi Sant!
The fun doesn’t stop there, as our guest traders will be with us on Friday too. To keep them company GBBO finalist and fellow Welsh native, Beca Lyne-Pirkis, will be cooking up a storm in the demo kitchen, with seasonal produce and delicious dishes from 1-2.30pm.
Beca's menu will include:
- Cheese & beer fondue served with Cwm Farm charcuterie & pickled onions
- Bara brith served with butter & blue cheese
- Welsh lamb empanadas
- Rocky road with chocolate, waffles, shortbread & Halen Mon Anglesey sea salt
Our guest traders will also be joined by our resident producers who will be showcasing their Welsh produce. There will be recipe cards to take away, a showcase of regional delights and leeks and daffodils a plenty as we celebrate St David’s day with our Welsh traders and visitors. Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!
