The Urban Community Festival – Raw and Unpeeled Sunday 3 July
On Sunday 3 July 2011, between 12 midday and 4pm, the Traders of Borough Market Southwark are hosting a rare opportunity for shoppers in the capital to visit the market on a Sunday and explore the variety, quality and versatility of their summer ingredients through demonstrations and unique combinations of products.
A selection of regular artisan producers and traders will be ranged around the Jubilee Market. A number will come together and share their expertise by offering unique combinations of their exceptional ingredients for sale. Real food shoppers will have the opportunity to discover new skills by watching traders working with their products in the demonstration kitchen.
Members of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens will provide displays and information to inspire and educate shoppers on the opportunities to grow and tend produce and livestock in an urban environment. Whilst local children are invited to enter exhibits for a series of craft and cookery classes revolving around ingredients found at Borough Market, which will be judged by a panel of traders.
Sideshows, salsa dance classes from Morley College accompanied by interactive ambient and ethereal melodies from harpist LongingLightning complete the lineup. Come and join us!
